ABOUT THE PROJECT
In 2020, the entire world faced the largest epidemiological threat of the century, caused by the spread of Covid-2019. The challenge was posed to our planet, and culture turned out to be the most vulnerable sector.

Museums, theaters, concert halls and cinema closed for a long time, architectural ensembles were emptied, international festivals, conferences and exhibitions were postponed.

Global self-isolation has radically changed the cultural sector. Digitalization has come quickly. The use of virtual reality technologies, real-time broadcasting and flash mobs in social networks allowed us to maintain access to cultural and art objects during the pandemic.
In support of the foundations of the global community and fundamental cultural values during the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, Russian cultural figures took the initiative to hold the International Marathon of Cultures.
Each participating country in the Marathon will present a presentation
video that reveals the natural beauty of each region, showing us great architectural landmarks, unique folk traditions and celebrations, demonstrating the unity and diversity of human culture.
APPEAL FROM THE RUSSIAN CULTURE'S PROMINENT FIGURES
Dear friends and colleagues,
We appeal to you at a very difficult time in modern history that affects all countries of the world without exception. No matter how the COVID-19 pandemic unfolds, it will end eventually. However, it is now that our solidarity matters. In these challenging times, we should set aside everything that divides us and think about what we can do together to preserve the universal cultural space, in which we have lived up so far and will certainly live in the future. It is now crucial to prevent the destruction of civilizational foundations that represent a core value of humankind.

Human life and the culture of humankind are largely synonymous. One should not forget that even during the economic crisis. This crisis should not be overcome at the expense of the cultural community.
